Our customer is building two new houses as part of a new development near Stansted Essex. The houses use ground source heat pumps to provide heating through underfloor heating pipes so need an energy saving screed to make the underfloor heating conduct heat efficiently.

Originally specified for a 75mm sand and cement screed, the developer raised the insulation by 25mm and laid a 50mm Screedflo Thermal screed, which conducts heat 5 times more effectively than traditional screeds. This provides conductivity of 2.5W/mk as opposed to traditional screeds which conduct heat at around 0.41W/mk.

The liquid screed is a sustainable product, made from recycled materials, so reduces the carbon footprint of the build. It is quick and easy to install and there is no mess or waste.

The benefit to the home owner is that the UFH can be run at a lower temperature, saving money, a big reduction in the operation CO2 emissions so being environmentally friendly.
