How much Screedflo dB can be laid at a time?
Although there is no limit to the size of project which can be undertaken by Screedflo, practicalities on site mean that it is often difficult for the builder to release too much floor area at any one time. Consequently, a typical area for installing the system at 40mm would be from 300m².
Can services be run through the screed?
Yes. However, these must be acoustically isolated from the screed with Screedflo edge-strip or similar material.
Is a movement joint required where there is likely to be differential movement, such as at a party wall door opening in timber frame?
Yes. Please request Screedflo dB details TF7a & TF7b.
Are lifting holes in the structural deck of floor cassettes a problem acoustically?
As long as the holes are no bigger than 50mm x 50mm they are not a problem. Larger holes should be closed from the underside of the deck to leave a flat surface.
How soon can you work on a screedflo dB floor?
You can walk on the screed 48 hours after pouring. Full working can commence 7 days after pouring. Floor finishes can be fitted 4 weeks after pouring.
Should internal partitions be erected before or after installing Screedflo dB?
Internal partitions can be installed to suit the build program. However, installing partitions prior to installing Screedflo dB will slow installation by approximately 25%, and will increase costs marginally. Please request Screedflo dB details TF3 & TF4a.
What happens if there is a water leak?
With a typical leak, such as a burst pipe on a washing machine, the screed will absorb the water, but will remain completely solid. As long as the screed is then allowed to dry normally, it will have no detrimental affect whatsoever. An advantage of using Screedflo dB is that there will not normally be any leakage through to the apartment below.
At what stage in the build program should Screedflo dB be installed?
The building should be weather tight, with the roof on, and windows in, or the openings covered with polythene. Any services, such as SVP's, which penetrate the floor should also be installed.
Can services be run through the floor after screeding?
There are two means of coping with this:
1 - Put temporary shuttering in place where the services are to be positioned. Please request Screedflo dB detail TF8b.
2 - Core out the screed to allow access for the services. However, care must be taken to acoustically isolate these services, using edge-strip.
Can the screed be laid in extreme weather?
Screedflo screed should only normally be poured when the temperature is between 4°C and 30°C in the building where it is to be poured.
Will the screed require sanding once it's cured.
During the drying period the screed will require a surface sand if the floor is to have a bonded or adhered finish this will remove any surface laitance that may have formed, it will also provide the necessary key for the adhesive/primer. This can be carried out 1 - 2 weeks after the screed has been laid depending on site conditions. It is advisable to use a light industrial sander with integrated vacuum system to avoid dust inhalation.
If a floating or non bonded covering is to be used then the requirement for sanding is at the customers’ discretion. N.B. sanding the floor will improve drying times as a textured surface provides a larger surface area to give off moisture.
Primers - When applying adhesives or cement based products such as levelling screeds and grouts, the screed surface must first be primed with an appropriate primer as recommended by the manufacturer.
Most manufacturers will only guarantee their finishes when used in conjunction with their own products.
Will the mobile batching plant be able to access my site?
The delivery vehicle can access most sites, but must always be on a hard standing area. We can pump the material 150 metres from wherever the Screeedflo vehicle is parked.

What floor finishes can be used on Screedflo?
If the screed is properly primed, any type of floor covering can be used. Refer to BS8204 SR2 for further guidance.
Can underfloor heating be used with Screedflo dB?
Yes. Flowing screeds are ideal for application over both electric and water under floor heating systems, as the screed fully encompasses the heating pipes. Flowing screeds have excellent thermal conductivity and minimal thermal expansion. Either water or electric underfloor heating can be used with Screedflo dB in masonry, timber or steel structures.
Can I use Screedflo dB on any type of joist?
There is no need to change joist supplier, as Screedflo dB is certified for use on the following joists.
Can Screedflo dB be specified and installed anywhere in the country?
Yes. Conventionally batched screeds can only be transported for short periods of time before they start curing. This means that unless your project is within a short distance of a batching plant you cannot use anhydrite screeds. As Screedflo use mobile batching plants there is full national mainland coverage.
Is there a minimum size of project before Screedflo dB can be used?
No. However, prices will vary dependant upon the size of project.
